This famous comedy by Mirza Fatali, in fact, deals with serious human relationships shaped by socio-social conditions and the confrontation that arises as a result of differences in thinking and attitudes.

By agreeing to let his son-in-law travel to Paris with his French guest, Monsieur Jordan, on the eve of his daughter’s wedding, Hatamkhan Agha actually causes a serious problem and conflict within his family. As a result, the lady of the house, Shahrebanu, unable to bear her daughter Sharafnisa’s tears, finds Monsieur Jordan through the servant Khanperi in order to prevent Shahbaz Bey from going to Paris.

The “destruction” of Paris through this man’s magic (in reality, the occurrence of the French Revolution and the change of the political system) and Monsieur Jordan’s urgent return to his homeland leave Shahbaz Bey’s dream unfulfilled.

The outstanding playwright, by creating a “play within a play,” has gifted us a beautiful work rich in comic nuances that serves as a mirror of the social environment. The theater presents it to the audience in accordance with modern demands.
