On July 4, the International Mugham Center will host an event dedicated to the 145th anniversary of renowned musician, tar player, and People’s Artist Qurban Pirmov.
At the event, prominent cultural figures and musicians will speak about the artist’s life and creative legacy, as well as his contributions to the development of Azerbaijani music.
Qurban Pirmov was born in October 1880 in the village of Abdal Gülablı, Aghdam region. He studied under Sadigjan, the creator of the modern Azerbaijani tar. Since 1905, he performed in a musical trio with Jabbar Garyaghdioghlu and S. Oganesashvili. In 1912, his mugham performances were recorded on gramophone discs by the “Sport-rekord” company in Warsaw.
Qurban Pirmov passed away on August 29, 1965, in Baku.
