A magical Christmas fairy tale from the historic stage of the Bolshoi Theater
The main Christmas fairy tale, the obligatory component of New Year's holidays, the wonder and magic, the anticipation and expectation of the holiday, the brilliant and beloved music: all this is “The Nutcracker”, a fairy tale ballet based on Hoffmann's fairy tale.
“The Nutcracker” is the most New Year's Eve of all fairy tales. And Yuri Grigorovich's ballet is the most New Year's of all “Nutcrackers.” From the first bars of music, with the first snowflake flying over the stage, the audience is inevitably overwhelmed by the anticipation of a real holiday. Girls in smart dresses, boys with sabers, Drosselmeyer's marvelous toys - and finally, under the most beautiful and exciting music, the Christmas tree grows, transforming cynical adult spectators into children expecting a miracle. And the miracle is sure to happen. And the fact that in the end the whole story will turn out to be just a little girl's dream, so it's New Year's Eve to dream and see fairy tale dreams.
Watch “The Nutcracker” of the Bolshoi Theater in cinemas across the country has become a good tradition for many viewers in different cities of Russia. After all, the miracle can not get bored! The magic will begin and the real magic will come into its own, which only a great theater and wonderful artists are capable of.
Libretto by Yuri Grigorovich based on the fairy tale of the same name by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann (using motifs from Marius Petipa's script).
