Maiden's  Tower

“Maiden’s Tower” A. Badalbeyli’s Ballet “Maiden’s Tower” is the first example of Azerbaijani national ballet. The first ballet performance took place on April 16, 1940 on the stage of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. Since then, the Maiden’s Tower has firmly entered the theater’s repertoire. The ballet was shown twice in Moscow and other cities, and in 2000 - in Antalya, Turkey. The composer, who performed an organic synthesis of classical music with folk dance, laid the foundation for national choreography. A. Badalbeyli dedicated the Maiden Tower ballet to the first Azerbaijani ballet dancer, People's Artist of the USSR, Camera Almaszade. G. Almaszadeh was a leading choreographer and leading singer - Gulyanag. The Maiden’s Tower was last put on the stage of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater in 1999 in a new edition, edited by Y. Alikishizade.
