Enzo Favata is one of the most active and renowned musicians from Sardinia on the international scene. His work is a multifaceted exploration of sound, a harmonious fusion of tradition and modernity, as well as diverse musical cultures.
Enzo performs on soprano, sopranino, and tenor saxophones, bass clarinet, and traditional Sardinian wind instruments. He also masterfully incorporates electronic effects and live electronics alongside acoustic instrumentation.
Favata has collaborated with legendary musicians such as Dino Saluzzi, Miroslav Vitous, Dave Liebman, Enrico Rava, the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Django Bates, Trilok Gurtu, Lester Bowie, Mulatu Astatke, and many others.
The iconic Broadway musical “Chicago”, set in the jazz-noir style of 1920s Chicago, has been specially adapted for the Baku Jazz Festival 2025. In this version, Fakhri Bey becomes a victim of love and intrigue. The main characters — Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly — are two cabaret performers accused of murder who, in an attempt to avoid prison, resort to clever tricks, lies, glamour, and the help of slick lawyer Billy Flynn.
The musical is rich in sharp satire targeting the justice system, the media, and the cult of celebrity. It features dazzling choreography in the style of Bob Fosse, jazz-infused music, and iconic numbers such as "All That Jazz," "Cell Block Tango," and "Razzle Dazzle."
Starring Azerbaijani stage stars Diana
Hajiyeva, Dilara Kazimova, Orkhan Aghayev, and Ulviya Rahimova. Director Aziz Azizov.
