The play tells about the chess championship in a passenger ship sailing to Buenos Aires, about a game of chess between Czentowicz and Dr. Bib, who became a surprise opponent for Czentowicz. Against the background of the game, human lives destroyed by war, physical and moral tortures, loneliness, a person's collision with his fears are revealed. The most difficult struggle that a person leads is a struggle with himself, where both victory and defeat are equally meaningless.
