The performance “The Maecenas” is based on the play of the same name by writer and playwright, Honored Art Worker Ali Amirli.

This two-act musical drama tells the story of the life and work of the renowned Azerbaijani oil millionaire, public figure, and philanthropist Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev. The stage director is Presidential Award laureate Samir Gulamov.

The performance portrays not only the difficult and dramatic fate of the main character but also the complex socio-political environment of the time, as well as the family tragedies faced by Baku millionaires as a result of the Bolsheviks’ cunning plans.

The lead role (Maecenas) is performed by the talented actor Ibrahim Alizade.

The composer of the production is Ali Aliyev. In addition, works by foreign composers such as Johann Strauss II, Salvatore Marchesi, and Frédéric Chopin are also featured.

The production team includes: conductor-director, Honored Art Worker Fakhraddin Atayev; production designer Vusal Rahim; choreographer, Honored Artist Emin Aliyev; choirmaster Malahat Gasimova; conductor Samed Suleymanli; concertmaster, Presidential scholarship holder Kamil Hasanov; assistant director Chimnaz Baghirova.
