The author shows that a mother’s love sometimes forces a person to make difficult decisions. The content of the work also reflects the conflict between the harsh laws of society and a person’s inner feelings. In this confrontation, the mother is portrayed as both suffering and spiritually elevated. Throughout the drama, she proves that she is ready for any sacrifice for the sake of her child. Thus, in the end, she even forgives her son’s murderer so that her son would not be disappointed in her, because he never approved of bloodshed. As a result, the play “Mother” highlights the power of humanity, compassion, and parental love, showing that the greatest value is pure and selfless maternal love.
