The new and distinctly original puppet play "The Jujube Tree" was produced by the Azerbaijan State Puppet Theatre to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II and the 115th anniversary of legendary soldier, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, and national hero of Azerbaijan, Hazi Aslanov.
The premiere of the play took place on June 13, 2025, in the city of Saint Petersburg.
This one-act puppet performance, staged in the "black cabinet" style, is based on the play of the same name by writer and playwright Sevinc Nuruqızı. It is presented in both Azerbaijani and Russian (translated by Elshada Azizova).
The play was adapted and directed by the theatre’s chief director, Presidential Award winner Anar Mammadov. The set designer is the theatre’s chief artist, Iqbal Aliyev.
