Little Traveler
Description
“Little Traveler,” based on the play of the same name by Belarusian writer and playwright Dmitry Bogoslavsky, is an engaging theatrical adventure that takes children into a world of dreams, ambitions, and knowledge. The performance explores a young child's thoughts about the future, the uncertainty of making choices, and the realization that learning and hard work are essential for achieving one's dreams.
The main character cannot decide whether to become an artist or a traveler. On one hand, he is fascinated by the magical world of colors and imagination; on the other, he dreams of discovering new places, meeting different people, and uncovering the mysteries of the world. The young hero begins to wonder what knowledge and skills he needs to turn his aspirations into reality. His grandfather steps in to help, explaining the importance of every subject taught at school and how different fields of knowledge contribute to shaping a person's worldview and achieving future goals. At first, however, the child disagrees with his grandfather and wishes to follow his dreams in his own way.
Lost in thought, the young hero falls asleep and finds himself on an extraordinary journey. In his dream world, he encounters various characters, becomes involved in exciting events, faces new questions, and discovers the colorful diversity of the world he has imagined. This adventure gradually changes his perspective and helps him understand how important knowledge is in making dreams come true. Upon waking and remembering his grandfather's advice, the boy decides to take his studies more seriously.
Presented on the stage of the Azerbaijan State Puppet Theatre, “Little Traveler” encourages children to pursue their dreams, set meaningful goals, and work diligently to achieve them. The performance emphasizes that regardless of a person's future profession or interests, education and reading remain their most reliable companions. Whether someone dreams of becoming an artist, a traveler, or pursuing another career, success requires continuous learning, exploration, and personal development.
The play also highlights the importance of communication between generations within the family, the value of elders' life experience, and the role of thoughtful guidance in shaping a child's personality. Through the young hero's dream adventure, children discover not only the beauty of imagination but also the importance of taking practical steps to transform their dreams into reality.
Adapted for the stage and directed by Anar Mammadov, the production features a visual world created by set designer Iqbal Aliyev. The music, composed by Honored Artist Vugar Jamalzada, further enhances the emotional atmosphere of the performance.
Brought to life through the collaborative efforts of its creative team, “Little Traveler” invites young audiences on a fascinating adventure, inspiring them to learn, think critically, reflect on their choices, and move confidently toward their future dreams.
