Thumbelina is a famous classic children’s fairy tale written by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen in 1835.
The story begins with a poor, childless woman who plants a barley seed in a flowerpot she has bought from a sorceress. When the flower blossoms, a tiny, delicate girl named Thumbelina emerges from it.
One day, while Thumbelina is asleep, a frog kidnaps her. Later, she encounters a ladybug, an old mouse, and a mole who lives without sunlight. Although the girl faces many difficulties, her kindness and courage help her overcome challenging situations.
One day, Thumbelina saves the life of a critically injured swallow by caring for it. Her act of kindness brings a new light into her destiny.
The swallow, remembering Thumbelina’s kindness, takes her to the Land of Flowers.
There, the gentle heroine meets the King of the Flower Fairies, marries him, and finds the true happiness she has been seeking for so long.
This fairy tale teaches children kindness, compassion, and hope. It also shows them the importance of persevering through difficulties in order to find true happiness.
