Annotation for the Play “The Secret of a Fortress”

The play “The Secret of a Fortress” is based on the play “The Flowered Mountain” by Mammad Huseyn Tahmasib, which, in turn, is inspired by Azerbaijani folk tales.

This fairytale play tells the story of poor but honorable and courageous people fighting against a cruel ruler who has taken their land and water. Leading this struggle are the scholar-doctor Eldostu, his loyal and beloved student Matanat, the brave master craftsman and his apprentice Elshen, and Kamran Baba.

The play demonstrates how the power and unity of the people, along with the alliance of knowledge and strength, can triumph over evil, bringing joy and happiness to thousands.

Since the events are set in modern times, unlike the original, this play takes place in the liberated lands of Karabakh, specifically in Kalbajar, one of Azerbaijan’s most treasured gems, known for its breathtaking nature.

The play captivates with its vibrant stage design and costumes. The professional performances of the actors capture the attention of young viewers, transporting them into a world of true wonders.
