Annotation for the Play “The Secret of a Fortress”

MammadHuseyn Tahmasib — “The Secret of the Fortress”
This fairy tale-play tells the story of the struggle of poor but honorable and courageous people against a cruel and merciless ruler who seized their land and water.
The play shows that the strength of the people, their unity, and the combination of knowledge and power ultimately triumph over evil, bringing joy and happiness to thousands.
The scientist-doctor Eldostu, his loyal and beloved student Matanat, the brave and bold craftsman, his apprentice Elshen, and the wise Kamran Baba lead this struggle.
Unlike the original story, the play is set in the liberated lands of Karabakh, showcasing the enchanting beauty of Kalbajar, one of the most precious gems of Azerbaijan.
The director of the play is Honored Artist Nijat Kazimov.
