Abdulla Shaig’s fairy-tale performance “Tik-Tik Khanum” tells the amusing adventures of Tik-Tik Khanum, one of children’s favorite fairy-tale characters. Having remained in the regular repertoire of the National Youth Theatre for many years, the play is now presented to children in a new production and a modern style.
Tired of loneliness and looking for a friend, Tik-Tik Khanum meets many animals. However, she does not like the character of any of them. Finally, a Mouse promises to be loyal, and Tik-Tik Khanum agrees to live together with him. One day, noticing that the Mouse, who had gone to deliver food supplies to the Khan’s palace, is taking a long time to return, Tik-Tik Khanum sets out in search of him and falls into a river. No matter how hard she tries, she cannot get out of the water and nearly drowns. Hearing about this from horsemen on their way to a wedding, the Mouse rushes to save Tik-Tik Khanum. However, Tik-Tik Khanum becomes upset with him... What happens next?
The performance not only speaks about friendship and kindness but also celebrates honesty and integrity. Therefore, despite the many challenges faced by Tik-Tik Khanum and the Mouse, their friendship triumphs, and they reconcile.
