Ilgar Fahmi’s play “Shah Abbas Nameh” is dedicated to the life of the great Safavid ruler Shah Abbas, his struggle for statehood, and his efforts to save the great Safavid dynasty from collapse by reviving it into a powerful empire.

The central idea of the drama is Shah Abbas’s 42-year reign: resolving palace conflicts, fighting rebellions of feudal emirs and foreign invasions, reclaiming previously occupied territories, and politically strengthening the Safavid state, transforming it into the most powerful empire of the East.
