Simon Spier keeps a huge secret from his family, his friends, and all of his classmates: he's gay. When that secret is threatened, Simon must face everyone and come to terms with his identity.
Simon Spear (Nick Robinson) is an ordinary teenager, as he states himself. Dad (Josh Duhamel) is a handsome former star of the school football team. Mom (Jennifer Garner) - also beautiful and even an excellent pupil. The younger sister (Talita Bateman) is a clever «favorite» of a family. House is for residents with incomes above average. Friends - exemplary good themselves outside and inside. School? School is like a school, but bulling in it, if it happens, is in light forms, such as a pair of offensive cues that you can snap at and not get in the face. In general, for an "ordinary teenager" it is somehow even too good, but the hero has one big secret. He likes guys. And then there was a mysterious peer in the school blog, who poetically reported the same problem.

The authors of the film “With Love, Simon,” tried to approach the topic of teenage coming-up seriously, but without a drama. That is, so that Simon suffered, not because the world around is openly hostile, but because even in comfortable conditions (understanding parents, excellent friends, prosperous school), the very need to come forward and report something about yourself is frightening. And life "in the closet" is not horrifying, but is still painful. Is it nessesary to change your jeans and hoody for something more colourful? Director Greg Berlanti ironically
plays up clichés associated with the representation of homosexuality in cinema. And aggravating the conflict inside the hero with an incident of blackmail and a chain of lies, which turns relations with friends into a comedy like Shakespeare, but simpler. The result is a movie with a light heart, where mistakes are as inevitable as their successful correction.
