This psychological drama explores the profound emotional upheaval, loss and separation that war brings into human lives, the difficult choices people face, and their struggle to preserve their moral values even under the harshest conditions. At the heart of the play lies the tragedy of war that continues not only on the battlefield but also within the human soul. Here, conscience, fear, love, hope and the instinct to survive speak louder than gunfire. War tests people both physically and morally: at what point can a person lose their humanity, and what does it take to reclaim it? In the play, time and place move beyond specific boundaries to evoke a universal image of war. Through the characters’ encounters, memories and inner monologues, the tensions between life and death, humanity and violence, remembrance and forgetting, hope and despair emerge.
“In Honour of Humanity” portrays war not as a romantic tale of heroism, but as a tragic trial of human destiny. The performance confronts the audience with a question: can war take everything from a person, or is it possible to preserve one’s humanity even in the darkest moments? At its core, this work is a prayer for humanity in defiance of war — a plea for human beings to remain human.
