Vladimir (Didi) and Estragon (Gogo) are waiting for someone named Godot. As they try to make sense of life, they encounter Pozzo and Lucky. The cruel Pozzo and his servant Lucky seek to take away their freedom and turn them into obedient slaves. Helpless as they are, Didi and Gogo refuse to give up hope, believing that Godot will surely come.
But who is Godot? He can symbolise God, enduring hope, or a beautiful life — in other words, a saviour. There is also a green willow tree in which the characters place their hopes. Perhaps tomorrow it will grow and spread its branches, saving them from people as cruel as Pozzo.
Through this production, its creators convey the idea that everyone needs something to believe in. This belief offers hope and a reason to keep living.
