“Masquerade” is a psychological drama based on Masquerade that explores the tragedy of a man who becomes a prisoner of his own imagination.

Yevgeny Arbenin becomes convinced that his wife Nina has betrayed him. Gradually, this certainty destroys him from within, turning suspicion into a final verdict. The play tells the story of a man attempting to escape a world of passion, deception, and gambling in search of inner purity and light. Yet the past refuses to let him go.

In the figure of the Unknown, the past returns to Arbenin as unavoidable retribution for his former actions and choices. A single careless gesture — a bracelet lost during the chaos of the masquerade — becomes the point of no return. And that alone is enough for a personal drama to turn into a tragedy where truth can no longer be separated from suspicion, and love from destruction.
