"ORPHEUS AND EURYDICE"
                                        (a one-act opera-ballet)
On April 23, 2022, the opera "Orpheus and Eurydice" with a libretto by Ranieri de' Calzabigi and music by K.W. Gluck will be staged at the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.

The opera first took the stage on October 5, 1762, in the city of Vienna, Austria, and it continues to be regularly performed in theaters around the world.

Orpheus, Eurydice, and Amor are the protagonists of this opera.

In opera theaters worldwide, this production is staged in various formats. In Azerbaijan, for the first time, the opera "Orpheus and Eurydice" features a larger role for ballet artists, in addition to the vocal performers who portray the characters of Orpheus and Eurydice.

The musical director and conductor of the performance is Honored Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ayyub Guliyev. The creative director is the Honored Art Worker of Ukraine, director Mykola Tretyak, the choreographer is the People's Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kamilla Huseynova, and the choreographer master is the Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sevil Haciyeva.
