The play "Shah Qajar" is dedicated to the life and reign of the remarkable but complex personality, Shah Qajar, a prominent historical figure. In Azerbaijani literature, especially in the theater, he is portrayed as a ruthless and unjust ruler who spreads hatred and contempt throughout the world. In reality, Aga Muhammad Shah Qajar, who established the foundations of the Qajar dynasty, was a wise, determined, well-educated, knowledgeable politician, sometimes ruthless, sometimes fair, and a just ruler. Therefore, the authors of the "Shah Qajar" play have revisited his life, presenting him anew to the audience in a manner that does justice to his legacy and is in line with modern theater aesthetics. This time, the focus is not only on the countless wars, power struggles, and intrigues he waged but, more importantly, on the hero's inner world, his extraordinary challenges, fears, philosophical and psychological thoughts, and the tragic murder that takes center stage in the performance.
