About event
Title of the play: “The Last Day of a Person Condemned to Death”
Author: Victor Hugo
Genre: Psychological drama
Duration of the performance: 1 hour 10 minutes.
Language: Azerbaijani
Creative director: Mir Gabil Akbarov
Theme: The work skillfully presents the emotions experienced by a death row prisoner on his last day, the feelings he experiences. The main purpose here is to highlight the tragic reality of the death penalty. Thus, execution, which completely destroys the right of the convicted person to compensation for harm, also leaves many unhealed wounds. Execution is a tragedy not only for the convicted person, but also for his relatives. In addition to the execution, the play raises the issue that part of society is cruel and terrible. At the present time in some parts of the world there are unofficial laws applied by man to man which, to use Hugo's language, are very disgusting and vile. Such laws also cause more spiritual pain than physical pain. Of course, death affects everyone. As the play says: “Everyone is doomed to an unknown death.” However, knowing the moment when we will die is even more terrible than death itself.
