A mother who loves her son deeply, a father paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair, Samir — a young man addicted to drugs, and Nargiz — pregnant by the man she loves, all face serious personal and universal struggles. Poverty shakes the family to its core, yet a flicker of hope burns in the mother’s heart — her soon-to-be-born grandchild.
When Samir’s creditors break into the house, they assault Nargiz. Samir witnesses this but hides instead of helping. Realizing this, Nargiz leaves him forever. Later, Samir returns home only to take his mother’s last remaining money.
Built upon such tragic and conflicting events, the play highlights problems that concern society as a whole — and shows that their resolution ultimately depends on the society itself.
