Synopsis of the Play “Xeyir-Xəbər”
The play “Xeyir-Xəbər” is based on the eponymous work by Honored Art Worker Əli Əmirli and is a one-act lyrical-psychological heroic drama.
“Xeyir-Xəbər” is dedicated to the cherished memory of martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the 44-day Patriotic War, as well as the heroism of veterans and war heroes. The play highlights the unity and solidarity of the Azerbaijani people around the "iron fist" during the 44 days of war, the joyful news delivered to the nation by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, and the significance of Karabakh for the entire Azerbaijani nation.
The realities of the 44-day war are depicted through the story of a rural family. The play begins with Murad, the only son of a family deeply rooted in the land, who volunteers to fight to liberate his ancestral lands that he has never seen. While defending the city of Füzuli from enemy attacks, Murad heroically steps forward, saves his fellow soldiers, and helps liberate the city from reoccupation. News of his death spreads, but later he is discovered wounded in a neutral zone. Through Murad’s bravery, fearlessness, and valor, the heroism of the Azerbaijani soldier is portrayed.
Murad's return home, his psychological and emotional struggles, and the post-war realities emphasize that the victory was not easily achieved. The play underscores the indelible mark left by the war. Furthermore, it highlights the government's steadfast support for its soldiers, veterans, and the families of martyrs.
