Cem Adrian – a Turkish singer whose real name is Cem Filiz. He was born in Edirne on 30 November 1980 into a family of Bosnian heritage and selected his stage name from Adrianople, the historic name of his hometown. After beginning to write music at a young age, Adrian worked in radio for approximately six years. He met Fazıl Say through Demet Sağıroğlu and, at the pianist’s invitation, studied as a special student at Bilkent University’s Faculty of Performing Arts. Adrian is known for a wide vocal range and his ability to move freely between low and high registers.
His first solo album, “Ben Bu Şarkıyı Sana Yazdım”, was released in 2005. Across “Aşk Bu Gece Şehri Terk Etti”, “Kayıp Çocuk Masalları”, “Şeker Prens ve Tuz Kral” and “Sana Bunları Hiç Bilmediğin Bir Yerden Yazıyorum”, Adrian combined alternative pop, rock, jazz and electronic music with experimental vocal performance. On the “Solmayan Şarkılar” project, he presented personal interpretations of classic Turkish songs.
