Emre Aydın – a Turkish rock singer born in Isparta on 2 February 1981 and raised in Antalya. He began playing the saz as a child and later moved to guitar. While studying economics in İzmir, Aydın formed the band 6. Cadde with Onur Ela. After winning the “Sing Your Song” competition, the group signed with Universal Music and released its self-titled album, “6. Cadde”, in 2003.
After the band separated, Aydın launched his solo career and released “Afili Yalnızlık” in 2006. Its melancholic rock sound and lyrics centred on loneliness made it a defining album of Turkey’s alternative music scene. In 2008, Aydın first became Turkey’s regional winner at the MTV Europe Music Awards and then received the wider “Europe’s Favourite Act” award. On “Kağıt Evler” and “Eylül Geldi Sonra”, he continued developing a combination of alternative rock, pop rock and acoustic arrangements.
