Röya – an Azerbaijani pop singer and People’s Artist of Azerbaijan whose full name is Royala Yagub gyzy Najafova. She was born on 14 June 1982 and began her music career in 1999 as a member of W-Trio. She later pursued a solo career and became one of the most recognisable singers in Azerbaijani pop music. “Səninəm” holds a special place in her catalogue and played an important role in introducing her to a wider audience. Her repertoire combines pop, estrada, dance music and emotional ballads. Her strong stage energy, distinctive performance style and regularly evolving visual image have made her one of the leading figures in Azerbaijani pop. In 2019, she received the honorary title of People’s Artist of Azerbaijan.
