Peter Frankopan | Public Talk
Description
The Oxford historian behind The Silk Roads — the book that reset the world’s mental map by arguing that the centre of history has always lain not in Western Europe but across the corridor of trade, faith and conquest running through Asia and the Caucasus — comes to Baku for a public conversation. Frankopan writes global history at planetary scale: empires and epidemics, silk and oil, climate and collapse, all read as a single connected story in which this region is not the periphery but the hinge. His talk offers an audience in Baku the rare chance to hear its own geography described as the axis of the world rather than a footnote to it, followed by open questions from the floor.
