The 115th anniversary of People’s Artist Bahram Mansurov, an outstanding tar player and master performer of mugham, will be celebrated.
The evening will feature distinguished mugham connoisseurs, khanendes, and tar players.
Bahram Mashadi Suleyman bey oghlu Mansurov (1911 – May 14, 1985) was born in Baku. From 1932, he worked as a soloist and concertmaster at the State Opera and Ballet Theatre. Bahram Mansurov was the first Azerbaijani musician whose performances of the Chahargah and Rast mughams were transcribed into musical notation. For the first time, the mughams Bayati-Shiraz, Humayun, Shur, Bayati-Kurd, and Chahargah were recorded on vinyl records and CDs under the auspices of UNESCO and disseminated worldwide.
In 1978 and 1983, Bahram Mansurov represented Azerbaijan at the International Mugham Symposium held in Samarkand.
The eminent tar player worked at the Opera and Ballet Theatre for 54 years, accompanying khanendes in mugham operas. People’s Artist Bahram Mansurov passed away in 1985, in the 75th year of his life. By a relevant decree of President Ilham Aliyev, the 100th anniversary of the birth of People’s Artist and eminent tar player Bahram Mansurov was officially celebrated in 2011.
