On May 9, 2024, the great poet, writer, playwright, one of the founders of the art song genre, Bulat Okudzhava, would have turned exactly 100. The front-line poet, who became a symbol of the generation of the sixties, became the first to speak from the stage in a simple human voice, without bravura, cheers for patriotism and excessive beauty . Bulat Okudzhava created an amazing poetic world in which a woman needs to be addressed as Your Majesty, for righteousness and devotion to your court you can get nobility, and the war in his songs is not sacred but vile. He was one of the first poets who picked up a guitar and sang his poems, thereby becoming one of the founders of an entire genre, the movement of poets with guitars.
His lines “Let’s join hands, friends, so as not to perish alone” became the anthem of more than one generation of decent people.
The Author's Song Club "Baku" has prepared for the anniversary of the Great Poet, a new program in which poems and songs by Bulat Okudzhava will be performed, excerpts from his prose will be read, and archival video recordings of the Poet will be shown. Participants of the KAP “Baku” as well as actors from leading Azerbaijani theaters will take part in the anniversary concert.
