On May 5 at the Azgosphilharmonic named after Muslim Magomayev. A concert of the outstanding violinist and musical figure of our time Gidon Kremer and the chamber orchestra Kremerata Baltica, which he founded, will take place at the Muslim Magomaev Azgosphilharmonic Hall.
A musician of uncompromising artistic outlook, Gidon Kremer has earned a worldwide reputation as one of the most respected and sought-after artists of his generation.
His wide-ranging repertoire includes works from the classics as well as composers of the 20th and 21st centuries.
No other soloist of his caliber has championed contemporary composers and new violin music as Gidon Kremer does.
He has collaborated with many contemporary composers such as Alfred Schnittke, Arvo Pärt, Giya Kancheli, Sofia Gubaidulina, Valentin Silvestrov, Luigi Nono, Edison Denisov, Aribert Reimann, Peteris Vasks, John Adams, Victor Kissin, Michael Nyman, and Philip Glass. Many of them dedicated their works to him, the first performer of which was usually the Maestro himself.
Gidon Kremer has recorded more than 120 albums and received numerous international awards, including the Ernst-von-Siemens Musikpreis, the Bundesverdienstkreuz, the Triumph Award (Moscow), the UNESCO Prize, Una Vita Nella Musica - Artur Rubinstein. In addition, in 2016 the Emperor of Japan honored him with the Imperial Praemium Prize, the equivalent of the Nobel Prize in Music.
