SYNOPSIS
In the ancient German castle, Prince Siegfried's coming-of-age day is celebrated, and he is solemnly knighted, setting the course of his life with duty and valor. Despite congratulations and the attention of his peers, Siegfried dreams of ideal love. By the will of Fate, he finds himself on the shore of a lake, where he sees enchanted swan maidens. Here he meets Odette, the embodiment of his romantic ideal, and pledges his love and faithfulness to her.Returning to the castle, where he must choose a bride, Siegfried encounters Odile, Odette's double, and under the illusion of the Evil Genius, he is deceived by her beauty, believing her to be his chosen one. However, at the moment of the vow before all, a vision of Odette appears, causing the prince to realize that he has become a pawn in the hands of fate. In the subsequent anxious scene at the lake, Odette forgives Siegfried but rejects him, their love thwarted by a storm, leaving the prince alone by the lake of his dreams.
