The Golden Fish grants wishes. The old woman wants more and more each time, always believing that now it will finally be enough. The old fisherman keeps returning to the sea again and again. He does not argue. He does not refuse. Alexander Pushkin called it a fairy tale. But the longer you watch, the more you begin to wonder what the story is truly about.
In the second act, the хитрый Balda appears — a clever worker hired by the Priest in exchange for “three knocks on the forehead.” The Priest believes he has outsmarted him. He is mistaken.
The performance combines The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish and The Tale of the Priest and of His Workman Balda into a lively and colorful musical production.
