Two young people who love each other with pure and sincere devotion — Farman and Govhartaj — fall victim to the harsh realities of their social environment.
Haji Kamyab agrees to give his daughter in marriage to Farman. However, his wife seeks personal gain and higher social standing through her daughter’s marriage. Farman’s mother understands the situation and urges her son to elope with the girl. Yet Farman refuses to leave his sick mother behind.
Meanwhile, Khudayar Khan wants his son Garay Khan to marry Govhartaj. Haji Kamyab and his wife consent to this union. Farman realizes that his uncle will no longer give him his daughter. Trying to ease tensions, Haji Kamyab offers money to Farman’s mother so she can start a business. Farman refuses, understanding the true motives behind this “generosity.”
Farman abducts Govhartaj and takes her to the house of the well-known akhund Ahmad Agha, believing it to be a safe refuge. However, Ahmad Agha becomes interested in the girl and, knowing Haji Kamyab’s wealth, decides to benefit from the situation. Assuming the fortune would eventually pass to Farman, he resolves to secure it for himself by performing a religious marriage with the girl. Govhartaj’s mother rejoices, thinking this will elevate their family’s status.
Seeking honor in the eyes of society, the girl’s parents unknowingly sign the death sentence of the two young lovers. Both contract tuberculosis, and both tragically die.
