The great thinker Jalil Mammadguluzade’s play “Mad Gathering” is relevant in all eras. In this satirical drama, the author depicts people who try to appear smart, but are actually mad themselves. Everyone seeks help from Doctor Lalbyuz, who in reality is a foreigner and cannot even benefit himself.
In the play, fanaticism, ignorance, and hypocrisy are the main targets of criticism. Pirpyz Sona and Molla Abbas, whom the “smart people” want to stone, become mirrors that reveal the darkness of their inner world.
