A rare gem of architectural art, the “Pir Huseyn Khanegah” is located 127 km from the city of Baku, in the territory of the village of Gubalybaloglan in the Hajigabul district of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on the left bank of the Pirsaat River. The khanegah complex, distinguished by the perfection of its architectural-spatial design and the solidity of its functional load, was formed around the tomb of the great Sufi sheikh Sheikh Al Huseyn ibn Ali.
In general, there were about 400 khanegahs belonging to Sufi sheikhs in Shirvan, and among them, this is the largest one that has survived to the present day and is a place that visitors always enjoy coming to. The main feature of the khanegah is the tile decorations in its crypt and mosque sections. These decorations were destroyed by Armenian Dashnaks during certain periods or stolen and sold to various European museums. Several of their fragments were found in the reserve area and are currently exhibited in the complex.
In addition, the area where the khanegah is located falls within the territory of the Pirsaat Reservoir on the Pirsaat River, and 7 of the 14 historical monuments registered in the Hajigabul district are located within this reserve area, which allows tourists to spend their time even more interestingly.
The reserve operates 7 days a week from 09:00 to 18:00.
