Ani Lorak – a Ukrainian-born singer whose real name is Karolina Kuiek. Her stage name was created by spelling “Karolina” in reverse. She began her music career in the 1990s and has recorded material in Ukrainian, Russian and English. A defining international moment came at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, where she represented Ukraine with “Shady Lady” and finished second with 230 points. The albums Солнце, Зажигай сердце and Разве ты любил... played an important role in shaping her Russian-language pop catalogue.
