Aysel Teymurzade – an Azerbaijani singer who studied music and piano from childhood and participated in the “Yeni Ulduz” competition in 2005. While studying international relations at the Azerbaijan University of Languages, she was selected by the country’s public broadcaster for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. “Always”, performed with Arash, received 207 points and finished third, giving Azerbaijan its first Top 3 result in the competition. Teymurzade also became the first female singer to represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision. She later released songs including “Fallin’”, “Yanaram”, “Don’t Let the Morning Come” and “Tonight”.
