Cheb Khaled – an Algerian singer, musician and songwriter whose real name is Khaled Hadj Ibrahim. He was born in Oran, Algeria, on 29 February 1960 and began recording music during his teenage years. Khaled became one of the central performers responsible for introducing raï music to an international audience. Songs such as “Didi” and “Aïcha” helped bring North African music into the global pop market. Widely known as the “King of Raï”, he combines traditional Algerian music with pop, blues, jazz and electronic production.
