DATO – a Georgian singer whose real name is David Khujadze. Born in Tbilisi, he became involved in music during childhood and performed with the groups “Flash” and “Sakhe” before beginning his solo career. In 2000, DATO received the Grand Prix at the “Slavyanskiy Bazar” festival and later earned the Audience Award at “Voice of Asia”. On the albums “I Want You to Want This”, “I Don’t Want to Hurt You” and “Sand Dream”, he combined pop, soul, jazz, disco and Georgian ethnic influences. DATO writes his own music and a large part of his lyrics, produces arrangements and plays several instruments. The music video for “Makhinji Var” was also presented at international advertising and visual arts festivals.
