Jah Khalib – a Kazakhstan-born rapper of Azerbaijani heritage whose real name is Bakhtiyar Mammadov. He was born in Almaty on 29 September 1993 and received his musical education in the city. During the early stage of his career, he worked as a beatmaker and producer before sharing his own songs online. “Твои сонные глаза”, “Созвездие ангела” and “Лейла” accelerated his rise among Russian-language listeners. Released in 2016, Если чё, я Баха became his defining breakthrough album.
“Медина”, released in 2017, became one of the largest hits in his catalogue, with its official video attracting hundreds of millions of views. Across E.G.O., Выход в свет, Мудрец and Desert Eagle, Jah Khalib continued combining rap, R&B, soul, reggae and Eastern melodic influences. His work as a producer, restrained flow and atmospheric arrangements have helped him build a distinct sound within Russian-language urban music.
