Jah Khalib – a Kazakhstani rapper, singer, songwriter and music producer whose real name is Bakhtiyar Mammadov. He was born in Almaty on 29 September 1993 to an Azerbaijani father and a Kazakh mother. He studied musicology and management at the Kazakh National Conservatory. Jah Khalib initially worked as a beatmaker and producer before developing his solo career. Songs such as “Лейла”, “Медина” and “Мамасита” brought him major recognition across the post-Soviet music market. His sound combines hip-hop, R&B, pop rap and melodic influences associated with Eastern music.
