Nigar Jamal

Nigar Jamal – an Azerbaijani singer who began performing in a children’s music ensemble at the age of five and later studied piano at music school. During the 1990s, she took part in the “Pöhrə” vocal competition and graduated from Khazar University with a degree in economics and management in 2001. In 2011, she represented Azerbaijan at the Eurovision Song Contest with Eldar Gasimov as the duo Ell & Nikki. Their song “Running Scared” received 221 points in the final and brought Azerbaijan its first victory in the competition. She later continued her solo career, releasing the album “Play With Me” and recording collaborations including “Qal” with Miri Yusif and “Come Into My World” with Dima Bilan. Her later catalogue combines pop and R&B with lyrical Azerbaijani-language material.
