Sina Bathaie – an Iranian-Canadian composer. Raised in a musical family, Bathaie began playing the santur at the age of seven and later studied Persian classical music, the oud and traditional rhythmic systems. Based in Toronto, he developed a style combining santur, oud and other acoustic instruments with electronic production and improvisation. His 2017 album “Ray of Hope” represents an early stage of his work connecting Iranian musical traditions with contemporary instrumental music.
“Breath of Life”, “Seven Ponds (Live)”, “Arrival” and “Tehran” significantly expanded his international electronic music audience. “Breath of Life” has received tens of millions of streams, while “Seven Ponds (Live)” has appeared on digital charts in several countries. Eastern melodies, the distinctive sound of the santur, deep electronic rhythms and a meditative atmosphere remain central elements of his work.
