Tunzala Aghayeva

Tunzala Aghayeva – an Azerbaijani singer, composer and pianist. She studied piano at a music school in Tovuz before continuing her education at the Gambar Huseynli Music College in Ganja and the Baku Music Academy. She gained widespread professional recognition after winning the Baku Autumn competition in 2001. In 2003, she received the Grand Prix at the international Yalta music competition in Ukraine. Her work combines pop, estrada and jazz with melodic traditions drawn from Azerbaijani music and her own approach as a composer. She has presented several solo concert programmes and written material for other performers. In 2019, she received the honorary title of People’s Artist of Azerbaijan.
