
Absheron National Park was established in 2005 in the Khazar district of Baku. The total area of the park is 783 hectares (7.83 km²).
On the land territory live gazelles, jackals, foxes, badgers and hares, while the waters of the Caspian Sea are inhabited by seals and various fish species. The park is also home to many birds including the silver gull, mute swan, coot, pintail, mallard, great egret, marsh harrier and other migratory species. Some animals and birds listed in the Red Book of Azerbaijan and found in Shirvan National Park can also be seen in Absheron National Park.
