On February 12, an evening dedicated to the memory of People’s Artist Alibaba Mammadov will be held at the International Mugham Center. The event will highlight the life and creative legacy of the renowned khananda, and well-known mugham performers will present a program consisting of mugham pieces as well as tasnifs and songs from Alibaba Mammadov’s repertoire, including those composed by him.
The evening, hosted by Honored Cultural Worker and writer-dramatist Ilgar Fahmi, will also feature People’s Artist Vamiq Mammadaliev, who will share his memories of the master artist. Performances will be given by People’s Artist Eyyub Yaqubov; Honored Art Figure Aqil Malikov; Honored Artists Sevinc Sariyeva and Ilkin Ahmadov; khanandas Malik Hasanov, Nisbat Sadrayeva, and Murad Lachin; as well as clarinetist Shamsi Mammadov.
It should be noted that Alibaba Mammadov had began his artistic career in the 1950s and had earned great love and admiration from the public through his artistry. His contributions to the development of Azerbaijani music are invaluable. Alibaba Mammadov is the author of more than 100 songs and tasnifs, and the songs he composed continue to be performed with great affection by mugham singers.
